Costume Design Intern
Summary
Costume Design Interns represent GCPA and its mission by helping achieve high production values in a positive and nurturing environment. Costume Design Interns are integral in creating and managing costume plots for musicals with large casts. This is an unpaid internship.
Responsibilities may include:
- Attending production meetings
- Working with Artistic Director to create a costume, hair, and make-up design in line with the mood, time period, and budget of the production
- Assisting in researching, communicating, and coordinating with potential rental locations
- Shopping for costumes and wigs whether online or in store
- Maintaining an itemized budget of expenditures
- Taking measurements and sizes of all cast members
- Creating a master and individual costume plots
- Managing costume and wigs through all stages of rehearsals, productions, and strike
- Assisting backstage with hair and make-up as well as costume changes
- Laundry, as needed
Required Qualifications:
- A background in at least one performing arts discipline OR
- A background in fashion or design
- A strong work ethic and a high value on quality design
- A driver’s license and personal transportation
Desired Skills:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Clear and professional communication, both written and oral
- Leadership and easy rapport with students of all ages
- Ability to multitask and maintain composure in high-intensity situations

September 20th: 12pm-4pm
Fittings: TBD
October 8th-November 22nd: Wednesdays (4pm-9pm), Saturdays (8am-4pm)
November 23rd: 12pm-4pm
November 24th-25th: 4pm-9pm
December 1st-5th: 3pm-10pm
December 6th-7th: 12pm-10pm
