Fall Education Intern
Summary: Gateway Center for Performing Arts employs interns for fall, winter, spring, and summer programming, including classes, workshops, and educational community programs. Interns represent GCPA and its mission to clients and the community and are an integral part of promoting the company and its services. Interns attend to a wide variety of needs including administration, customer relations, and instructor support. This is an unpaid internship.
Responsibilities may include:
- Monitor front desk and all doors during business hours
- Basic administrative duties including answering the phone, copying, filing, managing paperwork, and keeping facilities clean and organized
- Assist with transitions between classes including arrival, dismissal, and breaks
- Serve as a liaison between families, instructors, and staff, fielding questions and needs to appropriate channels
- Help create and organize materials for classes including music, scripts, staging, art and crafts, and some costuming and props
- Available for instructor support, including assisting during classes and helping with classroom management
Required Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- A background in at least one performing arts discipline OR
- A background in arts or nonprofit administration
- A strong work ethic and a high value on customer service
Desired Skills:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Clear and professional communication, both written and oral
- Leadership and easy rapport with students of all ages
- Ability to multitask and maintain composure in high-intensity situations
