Teaching Artists
GCPA is always accepting applications for Teaching Artists!
At this time, we are specifically seeking the following:
Voice Instructors, both for private instruction and for group voice classes and voice component of musical theatre performance classes.
Tap instructors, with ability to teach through advanced tap levels preferred.
Musical Theatre instructors, with ability to teach some or all of singing, dancing and acting.
Additional opportunities for further teaching may develop with working relationship.
Voice, Acting, and Dance Instructors must be proficient and trained in their specific discipline. It is preferred that all applicants have a working knowledge of all Musical Theatre skills. Musical Theatre instructors must be proficient and trained in at least one discipline of musical theatre and capable of teaching two to three disciplines (singing, dancing, and acting) to young children. Summary:
Gateway Center for Performing Arts employs Teaching Artists for fall, winter, spring, and summer programming, including classes, workshops, and educational community programs. Teaching Artists represent GCPA and its mission to clients and the community and are an integral part of promoting the company and its services.
Responsibilities may include:
Teaching assigned classes and projects in alignment with GCPA's core curriculum and standards
Creating all course materials, including syllabus, sheet music, lyric sheets, and scripts
Creating secondary course materials including craft projects, costuming, and props
Collaborating with the Director of Education to provide superior communication and goal tracking with students and families
Qualifications:
Preferred: A Bachelors Degree in Performing Arts, Performing Arts Education or a related discipline
Preferred: 3-5 years teaching experience in a performance arts related field
A working knowledge of repertoire from all genres and eras related to individual disciplines
Desired Skills:
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Independent and confident leadership
Clear and professional communication, both written and oral
A strong work ethic and a high value on customer service
Superior classroom management skills and comfort with a diversity of student ages, personalities, and abilities
Ability to multitask and maintain composure in high-intensity situations
Classroom Instructor Commitment
Orientation and professional development meeting(s) TBD
Commitment to classes in both Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters
Class Finales in Fall semester (in class) and Spring semester (in class and / or on stage, May 16th & 17th, 2026)
Private Vocal Instructor Commitment
Orientation meeting(s) TBD
Personal schedule based on studio availability.
Adherence to GCPA private lesson rates and studio fees.
Weekend availability for private lessons. Currently our studios are mostly booked during the week. We are in high demand for private voice instructors to students of all levels ages 8 through Adult.
Teaching Artist Compensation: Hourly rate based on education and experience.
Private Voice Instructor Compensation: Per 30, 45 or 60 minute lesson based on education and experience.
