SUMMER 2025 INTERNS
GCPA is in search of student interns for our 2025 Summer Camps and Productions. Our Summer Camps run weekly June 2nd - August 8th. Production Internships are available for three productions of Seussical Kids and one production of Seussical Junior with varying schedules throughout the summer.
Summer interns must be rising 8th graders or older in the 2024 - 2025 school year. Experience with GCPA and/or other performing arts education and production experience is a plus.

SUMMER INTERN JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
Summer Camp Interns represent Gateway Center for Performing Arts and its mission to clients and the community and are an integral part of the daily function of the organization. Interns are assistants to Teaching Artists and Teaching Assistants. They must be comfortable and professional with students, making sure students stay on task so that the Teaching Artist can focus on instruction. Interns must be available to tutor students that are having trouble with specific skills (crafts, music, dance, etc.) Interns must be willing to manage students and participate in upkeep of facilities (taking out trash, sweeping, vacuuming, etc).
Reports to: Education Director, Coordinator and Summer Camp Manager
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Basic administrative duties including answering the phone, copying, filing, managing paperwork, and keeping facilities clean and organized
Assist with transitions between camps including arrival, dismissal, and breaks
Serve as a liaison between families, instructors, and staff, fielding questions and needs to appropriate channels
Help create and organize materials for classes including music, scripts, staging, art and crafts, and some costuming and props
Available for instructor support, including assisting during classes and helping with classroom management
Required Qualifications:
Rising 8th Grade – Graduated Senior
A strong work ethic and a high value on customer service
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Clear and professional communication, both written and oral
Leadership and easy rapport with students of all ages
Ability to multitask and maintain composure in high-intensity situations
A background in at least one performing arts discipline
Commitment
Intern assignments are a full week, Monday – Friday, 8:15 am – 4:30 pm
Interns may be assigned to multiple weeks, if available
Weekly Camp schedule:
Weekly Camps run Monday - Friday, June 2nd - August 8th.
The camp day runs 8:45am - 4:15pm with short breaks and a 30 minute lunch.
There is no camp June 30th - July 4th.
Production Camp schedule:
Seussical KIDS Session 1: June 9th - 20th
Seissical KIDS Session 2: June 16th - 27th
Seussical KIDS Session 3: July 7th - 18th
Seussical Junior: June 23rd - July 13th
Seussical KIDS rehearsals run Monday through Friday, 8:45am - 3:15pm. The final Friday of each Seussical Kids is the performance day and runs 8:45am - 7pm. Dinner is provided.
Seussical Junior rehearsals run Monday - Friday, 8:45am - 4:15pm. The performances take place Friday - Sunday, July 11th - 13th. Specific performance weekend schedule will be discussed in interview, but Interns in general are expected to keep this weekend open.
Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship
Letters or recommendation and proof of hours volunteered provided on request
