august 3RD - 5TH, 2018 ages 14-18

Grades 9th - GCPA Alum ages 18-20

It’s 1891, and grown-ups hold all the cards. Headstrong Melchior and naive Wendla stumble into each others’ arms, passionate and curious, while anxious Moritz struggles to live up to the stringent expectations of society. With only each other for guidance, this group of young men and women travel the fraught and rocky path of adolescence, discovering their bodies, their minds, and themselves along the way. The winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, told by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater through what Entertainment Weekly called, "the most gorgeous Broadway score this decade," Spring Awakening explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with a poignancy and passion that is illuminating and unforgettable. The landmark musical is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality and rock and roll that is exhilarating audiences across the nation like no other musical in years.

We are always seeking to make high quality performing arts experiences accessible to young performers. One of the goals of our artistic programming is to provide as professional an experience as possible, exposing actors to the real world of theatre and educating them to be successful performers. To this end, and in celebrating this special five-year anniversary production which includes our alumni actors, we are not charging a production fee for Spring Awakening.
