AUGUST 6TH - 9TH, 2020
Grades 9th - 12th
In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies offers welcome and assurance of freedom from troubles at the cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish.
Auditions for both of our summer productions - Legally Blonde Jr. and Cabaret - will be held over March 7th & 8th, 2020.
Audition appointments will be taken beginning Friday, January 24th, 2020. To make an appointment, email Stephanie at firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information: Actor Name / Actor Age / Parent Name / Best Email / Best Phone Number / Preferred Audition Day / Preferred Audition Time.
Preparation and Process
Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song. Sheet music is required. No transpositions and no lead sheets. No a cappella singing. Please do not sing songs from the show. An accompanist will be provided.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete paperwork and prepare for auditions. Please bring schedule and all potential conflicts.
Actors will be notified after their appointment if they are needed at callbacks. Not being invited to callbacks does not necessarily mean an actor will not be offered a role.
We sometimes make cuts during the audition process. This is to respect everyone’s time, to promote an efficient casting process, and to best care for the high emotions everyone experiences during auditions. We do our best to notify actors quickly of all casting decisions.
We encourage ALL audition attendees to go over these in detail to help your prepare for auditions, callbacks, and casting.
Auditions held in Webster Groves at:
